Line U6

U-Bahnhof Tempelhof

Between Alt-Tegel underground and Alt-Mariendorf underground stations.

Today's U6 line has 29 stations on a track of 19.9 kilometres stretching from Tegel to Mariendorf.
The city of Berlin planned to construct an undergound line on the north/south axis beneath Friedrichstraße as early as 1901. Werner von Siemens had made plans to build a line under Nobelstraße. At that time, city authorities thought that public transport should remain under municipal control. They therefore turned down an offer by Siemens, and built the undergroun line themselves.
