The U55 Shuttle Line from Hauptbahnhof to the Brandenburg Gate
While structural work continues on the station, this phase includes adding a provisional metro platform, and very importantly, extending the stairway entrance as well as constructing a new passageway to the urban rail station (S-Bahn). An elevator will also be installed.
This will allow wheelchair access to the Unter den Linden urban rail station (S-Bahn) for the first time. Preparations will also be made for installing escalators.
Construction work can probably be reduced to a minimum at this time. Traffic at the site will also be greatly reduced when the structural work is completed.
Construction phase 5: New western exit
Action:
Building new stairs and elevators on the central promenade
Emissions:
Little or no noise pollution (underground construction work, cryogenic system in access structure).
Moderate noise pollution from loading and traffic.
