You, too, can drive a tram

Fahrsimulator Straßenbahn

Drive the streetcar simulator through Berlin

Have you ever wanted to drive a tram yourself? Why not give it a try? Now everyone can drive one of the big yellow trams through Berlin - or at least through virtual Berlin.

The streetcar simulator at the Tram Training Center in Lichtenberg has been available to visitors since 15 May 2003, every second and fourth Thursday of the month from 2:00 to 6:00 pm. Driving the simulator is almost as fun as driving the real thing. Tram drivers normally use it to practice their safety skills and the best ways to handle tricky traffic situations.

Where is the streetcar simulator?
Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG)
Tram Training Center (Ausbildungszentrum Straßenbahn)
Siegfriedstr. 30-35
10365 Berlin

Driving times:
Every second and fourth Thursday of the month, from 2:00 to 6:00 pm (the last "drive" starts at 5:30 pm).

Price:
For 60 euros, you can drive for 30 minutes along different tram routes. Normal operations as well as obstacles and mishaps can be simulated. Payment is made at the Tram Training Center.

Reservations by phone:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 2:00 pm: (030) 256 30333.

Please note the following:
Simulator drivers must be at least 8 years old. Children through the age of 13 (inclusive) must be accompanied by an adult. Children aged 14 and 15 may only visit and use the traffic and streetcar simulator with the written permission of a parent or guardian.

Simulator sessions are 30 minutes in length. These 30-minute sessions may be used by a single individual, or they may be shared (successively) by up to 5 people. If several people share a 30-minute session, of course, this will reduce the amount of time per person accordingly. If you are sharing a session, please decide how you wish to divide up the time beforehand.

Due to our staff training schedules, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to use a specific type of streetcar.

Visitors to the streetcar simulator should go to the gatekeeper (Siegfriedstrasse bus entry) 10 minutes before their appointment, and then continue on to the foyer of the "Fahrdienst Straßenbahn" (Tram Service) in the Training Center. A BVG staff member will meet you there. Please follow the instructions of our staff at all times. The BVG is not liable for any accidents caused by visitors.

The BVG reserves the right to cancel or change the dates of simulator appointments.
