Second exit for metro station Konstanzer Straße
Since 28 May 2008, metro passengers can use a new, second exit from metro station Konstanzer Straße. Up to now, the metro station only had one exit.
Now passengers can choose between two exits: straight onto Konstanzer Straße or to the central reservation of Brandenburgischer Straße between Wittelsbacher and Ballenstedter Straße.
This completed construction work has been carried out above all in the interests of passenger safety: passengers can now leave the metro station from both ends of the platform in an emergency. Construction of the new exit began on 14 February 2007 and cost about 1.9 million EUR.
With the second entrance to the platform of the metro station Konstanzer Straße, the BVG has now commissioned the last-but-one of the two missing entrances to metro stations.
Rudow station will also be given a second entrance this year
At the moment, work is still in progress at Rudow metro station. Here the new entrance will be opened in June 2008. Once the new entrance to Rudow metro station has been opened, this will mean that all eleven metro stations that used to have only one exit at the end of the platform will now have been provided with a second entrance.
