Chief Operating Officer leaves the company
At today's meeting of the BVG Supervisory Board, Thilo Sarrazin,
Supervisory Board Chairman and Berlin Senator for Finance, informed
the Board that the Chief Operating Officer Thomas Necker will be
resigning as of 30 June of this year.
Sarrazin thanked Thomas Necker for all the work he has put in for
BVG, with positive recognition for the progress and results
achieved in his term as Chief Operating Officer for the company.
These include modernization of the complete BVG bus fleet including
pioneering hydrogen technology, as well as the renewal of the tram
fleet over the next decade with the current delivery of four
pre-production vehicles type Flexity.
Construction of the U55 and the start of work for extending the U5
also come under Necker's term of office, together with the new
vehicle strategy for the metro and setting up a completely
integrated infrastructure for optimum fulfilment of the transport
assignment.
Necker was also responsible for putting BVG's
security and services divisions on a sustainable basis.
Thomas Necker has been Chief Operating Officer of BVG
for more than four years. Originally from Austria, he came to
Germany's largest municipal local public transport company after
working for the Austrian railways (ÖBB) and Alcatel Austria. Here
in Berlin he was responsible for the operative divisions including
the buses, metros and trams together with infrastructure.
