Modern Control Centres

Leitstelle Tram

Two under a single roof

A new control centre has increased the level of security. On 10 April 2002, the new BVG Service and Security control centre started up operations in the building on Tempelhofer Ufer.

It is located down the hall, so to speak, from the BVG Central Control Centre, which had moved to the building in February of the same year. By working closely together, the two centres can react more rapidly and efficiently to serve customers. The new control centre can thus request and deploy personnel faster, if necessary, to provide customer information.

It is now possible to monitor all the stations via camera from a single security centre. This is in addition to the four already existing SIS (Security, Information, and Service) centres (Osloer Straße, Kleistpark, Nollendorfplatz, and Alexanderplatz), which are responsible for monitoring individual metro lines.

For the staff of the Service und Security control centre, a single glance is enough to know where the security personnel are. They can then be deployed immediately if needed.
