Accessibility statement for the new Fahrinfo-App iOS

The Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) is in the process of making the new BVG Fahrinfo-App accessible. To this end, we are working closely with various associations.

This digital accessibility statement applies to the iOS version of the new BVG Fahrinfo-App. The BVG Fahrinfo-App is also available for Android and as a web app. All versions are largely accessible, although there are still some restrictions.

Different devices (smartphone and tablet) offer the user a wide range of assistive technologies and settings that the apps can be used with.

When was the accessibility statement created?

This statement was prepared in July 2024. The initial technical accessibility review was supported by an external expert.

How accessible is the service?

This app for Android smartphones is partially accessible. The requirements of BITV 2.0 are only met in part.

Which areas are not accessible?

The areas listed below are not accessible for the reasons stated:

  • Alternative texts for controls: some controls (e.g. keys or buttons) are not clearly labelled or not labelled in German.
  • Headings: many areas should be better structured with additional headings.
  • Contrast between graphics and controls: some buttons are not clearly identifiable.
  • Contrasts of texts: Various texts and textual information have an insufficient contrast ratio
  • Restriction of screen orientation: currently only portrait mode
  • Adjustable text size: text spacing not always fully adjustable
  • Keyboard operation not possible in some cases
  • Customisable time limit: the purchase confirmation pop-up automatically disappears after 5-10 seconds.
  • Moving content can be disabled: ticket clock animation that cannot be paused and is shown in the text box when ticket is purchased or price is calculated. Animation longer than 5 sec and other content remains visible.
  • Focus order: VoiceOver is partially incorrect in the map area.
Wrong focus order for “Emergency Call and Services”.
  • Labeling in the accessible name: Ticket settings icon stored as English text and therefore not always clearly identifiable in VoiceOver.
  • Consistent labelling: Inconsistent numbers (sometimes whole numbers, sometimes only single digits for phone numbers), Logout: partly English, partly German pronunciation.
