In addition to a comprehensive employee survey, shorter impulse surveys are also conducted. The aim is to highlight strengths, identify challenges at an early stage, and derive concrete measure

The BVG in numbers

The BVG travels around the world nine times every day.

For almost 100 years, the company has been providing mobility in Berlin, covering an area of around 890 square kilometers. More than 16,500 employees from over 80 countries work in more than 240 professions to ensure that operations run smoothly around the clock, 365 days a year.

The BVG's vehicles stop at more than 7,770 stops and stations and reliably bring passengers to their destinations.

As Berlin's fourth-largest employer, the BVG offers a wide range of career paths – in driving and operations, technical professions, IT, and administration. The company stands for secure jobs, long-term prospects, and development opportunities.

Employee survey 2024

With its comprehensive 2024 employee survey, the BVG conducted its first broad-based assessment of sentiment within the company. The aim was to systematically measure employee satisfaction and use the results to identify areas for improvement. The overall index score was 65 out of 100. It is composed in equal parts of the dimensions of satisfaction, motivation, identification, and recommendation.

The results were then reviewed in numerous workshops. Measures for the further development of working conditions, cooperation, and communication were developed. In total, several hundred measures were initiated, which are being implemented step by step.

There is a particular focus on transparency and on further developing the action points together with all the teams.

Pulse survey 2025

In addition to the large-scale survey, the BVG conducted an pulse survey in 2025. The purpose of this was to gauge the current mood during a phase of organizational change. More than a third of employees took part voluntarily.

Key findings

The employee satisfaction index remains at a good level of 64 points (2024: 65 points).

  • Satisfaction improved particularly among the drivers – the company's largest occupational group (increase from 61 to 65 points).
  • 58 percent of respondents rate the work-life balance as good.
  • There is still room for improvement in terms of cooperation between departments.

The results show that the mood within BVG remains stable even in times of organizational change, while at the same time providing important starting points for further improvements.

Listening is good. Implementing is better.

The results of the surveys are continuously incorporated into the further development of the BVG as an employer. Managers evaluate the results together with their teams, implement measures, and regularly review their effectiveness.

Employee surveys will continue to be conducted in the future in order to actively accompany changes and further develop working conditions in the long term.
