In an ever-growing Berlin, the BVG is a dependable companion on the road to the post-fossil fuel, climate-neutral, and cost-effective future of mobility. Sustainable operations are a strategic goal that we, as a humanitarian and environmentally friendly company, consistently pursue based on our economical, ecological, and social responsibilities. In doing so we, of course, pay particular attention to our customers and their changing mobility needs.

Every single day, we aim to prove ourselves as an innovative mobility services provider, at the same time securing the company’s economic success in the long term. We see it as our duty to further promote ecologically sound public transport in the capital and to advocate for sustainable climate protection and the environmentally friendly use of resources.
This can be seen, for example, in the billions we have invested in infrastructure and the planned transformation of our entire bus fleet to e-buses running on 100 percent green electricity. It is also reflected in our strong sense of responsibility toward our employees, an open corporate culture, our embrace of social diversity, and a good work-life balance. A fuller picture of the BVG and the “sustainability triangle” is set out in regular Communications on Progress and in the German Sustainability Code.

As Germany’s largest public transport company, sustainability is a very important issue for the BVG. We take responsibility for the environment, for our own employees, for society and for our value chain. To this end, we have set up processes in accordance with the requirements of the German Supply Chain Sustainability Act (LkSG).
Our Human Rights Officer is responsible for monitoring and developing our human rights risk management system and reports regularly to the Executive Board. The Human Rights Officer is supported by specialists in the areas of occupational health and safety, environmental protection, purchasing and legal and compliance.
The procedure for managing LkSG-relevant complaints is described below. The requirements of the Whistleblower Act are followed throughout the process, especially regarding the independence and confidentiality of those processing complaints. Whistleblowers can also submit complaints anonymously under the LkSG. We aim to keep the processing time as short as possible and–if desired–to remain in contact with the whistleblower throughout the process and provide information in a clear and comprehensible manner. We comply with data protection legislation. The effectiveness of our complaints procedure is regularly reviewed.
