Wannsee

How to get there: Station "S Nikolassee" S-Bahn (S1, S7)
Suitable for: Families with children, groups, sporty swimmers

The Wannsee is located in Berlin Steglitz-Zehlendorf. Fine sand, shallow water and plenty of space make it particularly family-friendly. In addition to the lido, you will also find well-tended sunbathing lawns, playgrounds, boat hire and snack bars. It's worth coming early, because in good weather it's really busy here! If you are looking for shade on warm days, you can also combine your trip to the Wannsee with a walk through the Grunewald forest.

Plötzensee

The quietly located Plötzensee - a green oasis in the centre of the city. Kiosks provide refreshments, there is a varied programme of events on a regular basis and the atmosphere is relaxed. It's easy to find a quiet spot by the water, especially during the week. Ideal for cooling off on a hot day.

Müggelsee

How to get there: Station "Strandbad Müggelsee" or "Licht- und Luftbad Müggelsee" Tram (61) or bus (N65)

Berlin's largest lake impresses with its wide natural backdrop, bathing bays and views of the Müggelberge mountains with the Müggel Tower. You can easily reach it by tram. Boat hire, cafés and numerous walking trails await you on site. The Müggelsee is perfect for longer day trips - whether on foot, by bike or on the water. An insider tip for nature and activity fans. Renovation work on the Müggelsee lido began in mid-July 2021. Despite the construction work, swimming is still possible. Since then, access to the bathing area and the recreation area has only been possible via the gate at the small car park in the direction of Friedrichshagen for construction reasons.

Krumme Lanke

The U3 underground line takes you directly into the countryside: Krumme Lanke is idyllically situated in the Grunewald forest and offers quiet, natural bathing spots. If you are looking for relaxation away from the hustle and bustle, this is the place for you - picnic instead of chips, forest instead of promenade. The infrastructure is minimal, but that's what makes it so attractive. Ideal for walks, reading and quiet summer days.

Tegeler See

How to get there: Station "U Alt-Tegel" U-Bahn (U6)
Suitable for: Families, walkers, boat fans

Lake Tegel is a real all-rounder: easily accessible with the U6 underground line, it offers promenades, restaurants, boat hire and steamboat trips. Around Alt-Tegel in particular, you will find everything you need for a successful day out - including swimming fun. If you want to combine water, food and exercise, this is the place for you.

Spree in Treptow

How to get there: Station "S Treptower Park" S-Bahn (S9, S41, S42) or bus (165, 166, 194, 265, M43, N60, N65, N94)
Suitable for: quiet afternoons, walks, boat fans

You can easily reach the Spree in Treptow by taking the S-Bahn to Treptower Park - a spacious riverside area with sunbathing lawns, boat hire and a great view of the Insel der Jugend. Here you can hire pedal boats, have a picnic or simply relax and unwind. A wonderful spot for sunsets, especially in the evening. Small kiosks and cafés round off the experience.

Spree Berlin Centre

How to get there: The S-Bahn S5, S7, S9 or buses 100, 200, 300, 147, 245, 248 run along the Spree in the city centre.
Suitable for: City explorers, those interested in culture, tourists on a city trip

Even in the centre of the city, the Spree is a real experience - whether walking along the government district, chilling out at the East Side Gallery or on a boat trip. The banks between Friedrichstraße and Oberbaumbrücke offer urban flair with a view of the water. Many places are not intended for swimming, but are perfect for lingering. Cafés, promenades and cultural venues are located directly along the route.

Havel in Kladow and Gatow

How to get there: Station "Alt-Kladow" or "Alt-Gatow" bus (134, N34)
Suitable for: Recreation seekers, cyclists, walkers

Take the bus to the unspoilt Havel near Kladow. The banks are quiet, green and offer many opportunities for walks, bike rides or a dip in the water. There is usually a small beer garden or kiosk nearby. Especially nice: the relaxed crossing with the ferry (F10) from "S Wannsee" or "Alt-Kladow".

How to get there: Station "S Ostkreuz" S-Bahn (S3, S5, S7, S8, S9, S41, S42, S75, S85) or bus (194, 347)

The Rummelsburger Bucht between Friedrichshain and Lichtenberg is a charming urban retreat. Steps to sit on, wide expanses of water and a mix of nature and city make this place special. Not suitable for swimming, but perfect for a picnic or a jog. Cafés and restaurants are within walking distance - as is the neighbourhood.

Landwehrkanal (Kreuzberg/Neukölln)

How to get there: Station "U Prinzenstr." U-Bahn (U1, U3, U12) or bus (140, N1)
Suitable for: City explorers, those seeking peace and quiet, joggers

Along the Landwehr Canal you will find a piece of Berlin as it is written in the book: urban, green, lively. A central Berlin recreational area stretches between the Unterschleuse lock in Charlottenburg and the Oberschleuse lock in Kreuzberg. Numerous riverside paths and wide avenues invite you to take long walks. Ideal for a relaxing afternoon in the heart of the city.
