Underground

Step into the future, please!

It was built in Berlin. It is built for Berlin. High quality standards unite passengers, manufacturers and the BVG. After all, the trains of the new J/JK series will shape the image of Berlin's subway for decades to come.

Fresh, bright and spacious

Particularly our passengers will benefit from the new generation of subway trains. Thanks to newly designed door areas and flat passenger information systems on the side walls, the J/JK series trains appear much more spacious than previous models. New features include the time-of-day and sunlight-controlled colored lights, which create a pleasant ambience. Outwardly inclined handrails provide plenty of space in the gangways, for example for wheelchair users or parents with pushchairs.

The largest vehicle procurement in the history of the BVG

Our subway fleet will grow by around a third by 2035 and the service for our passengers will be significantly expanded: this means more capacity, more frequent journeys and a more reliable BVG. According to the framework agreement with Stadler, up to 1,500 vehicles are expected to be delivered by 2035. With a total volume of up to three billion euros, the contract also provides for the supply of spare parts for more than 30 years.
