New charging concept for a growing electric fleet

The BVG has one of the largest e-bus fleets in Germany and is currently expanding it further. By 2027, around 500 BVG buses will be electric. In order to be able to use the new electric buses successfully during our regular service, more charging facilities are needed in the city. 36 terminal stops are currently being converted with a new charging concept. The articulated electric buses will be charged using a pantograph with so-called “bottom-up” technology. The movable contact arm is not located on the charging mast, but on the roof of the bus.

You can find more information on the project here (in German).

E-cars as company cars

Of course, BVG is also powered by electricity - with more than 150 electric company vehicles that are supplied with 100 per cent green electricity at around 200 e-charging stations. This means that almost all non-passenger company cars and a large part of the van fleet have been converted to electric mobility and are emission-free.
